Highland Lake Snowmobile and Outdoor Recreation Club was officially formed in October of 2005 in an effort from a group of snowmobile and other outdoor recreational enthusiasts to create an interconnected series of joint use and connector trails that span for hundreds of miles throughout the region.  The concept entails the enhanced utilization of the already established trail and road network of the State Forest Lands and State Game Lands that presently encompass a major portion of the Sullivan County, Northern Lycoming County, Northern Columbia County, Lower Bradford County, North Western Luzerne County and Western Wyoming County.  These are the areas of interest for this vast network of trails for our area.

The club is in the process of securing a grant from DCNR.  This grant would help fund a major feasibility study that would be completed by an engineering firm over the next year.  The firm will study and then report on the various aspects of creating a multi-county/regional interconnected snowmobile and outdoor recreation trail system.

The vision for this trail system is one where multiple groups of outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy the many splendors that our region has to offer.  Whether you enjoy snowmobiling, horseback riding, cross county skiing, mountain biking, ATVing, bird watching and/or hiking, our club plans to bring the various state, country and locally run governmental agencies and the private sector affiliates together throughout our region in a conscientious effort to make this trail system a reality.

Economically speaking, the creation of this multi-county/regional interconnected trail system should help booster many of our current service related businesses and possibly stimulate new business growth throughout our region.  Being located within a close proximity to or bordering this trail system may well prove to be a positive for many business owners and private landowners.

The club welcomes any and all interested in becoming a member.  Fill out the membership application and mail to the club with your check, we will process it and send you your membership card.  Our current membership is over 200 members.
